Make it Matter. Make it Home. Make it Vicksburg

A woman and three girls, all wearing matching T-shirts and skirts, are outdoors on a brick patio, sharing a joyful moment and smiling.

My name is Elnoro Winston. I’m a mother, a veteran, and a woman who’s learned how to turn pain into purpose — not just for myself, but for my community.

I served 20 years in the U.S. Army. I’ve survived combat zones and emotional wars, a divorce that left me empty, and a high-risk pregnancy during COVID while raising two little girls. That pregnancy nearly took my life, but God kept me — and gave me my third daughter, Winter. I’ve faced homelessness, heartbreak, and days where I had to carry my children through storms I didn’t ask for. But I’m still here. Not just surviving — building.

In 2021, I came to Vicksburg, Mississippi with nothing but faith and my three daughters: Serenity, Maleah, and newborn Winter. What some might’ve seen as the end, I knew was a beginning. I looked at boarded-up houses and broken-down blocks and saw something different: hope. I knew that if I could rebuild myself, I could help rebuild this city too — from the inside out.

That’s what led me to start my nonprofit, Rebuilding Vicksburg from the Inside Out. It’s not just about fixing homes. It’s about restoring dignity, creating safe spaces for women and children, supporting veterans like me, and proving that our neighborhoods — and our people — are worth fighting for.

Everything I do is personal. Every project comes from a place I’ve walked through myself. So when I show up, I show up with heart, history, and healing in my hands. I don’t just want to see change — I am the change.

If you’ve ever felt forgotten, overlooked, or like no one saw the light in you… I see you. And I’m building this with you in mind.
