Who we are
Rebuilding Vicksburg from the Inside Out is a grassroots nonprofit rooted in community, restoration, and love. Founded by U.S. Army veteran and community advocate Elnoro Winston, our mission is to bring new life to Vicksburg’s overlooked homes and neighborhoods — one house, one block, one story at a time.
We believe that transformation doesn’t start with buildings — it starts with people. Our work is deeply personal: for single mothers and single fathers trying to make ends meet, for elders holding on to their family homes, for veterans still fighting battles long after their service, and for children who deserve more.
This nonprofit was born out of lived experience — from the quiet strength of Elnoro’s mother to the solid support parents her father, Perry Gilbert and mother Yolanda Bolls, to the neighbors who remind us every day that no one should have to rebuild alone.
Our mission is powered by community. We don’t pretend to have all the answers, but we believe in asking the right questions — and in asking our neighbors to stand with us. Because when we show up for one another, we make way for something bigger than fear: we make way for hope.
Whether you join us in rebuilding a home, sharing your story, donating supplies, or lending your time — you are part of the movement.
We are rebuilding more than houses.
We are rebuilding trust.
We are rebuilding each other.
From the inside out.
